David improvises monologues at a small radio station in Philadelphia. His brother Jason, instead, tosses and turns his way through sordid affairs inside the black mafia. The two meet for the first time after a long time in a brief stay in Atlantic City, where Jason aims to persuade his brother to take part in some real estate speculation in Hawaii. Jason's companion Sally is there with them. She has not resigned herself to getting old. Her daughter Jessica has shown herself to be available to her stepfather's attention and this gets Jessica jealous. Already instable enough, the groups equilibrium goes up in air when the real estate deal falls through. Sally reaches the height of jealousy and despair, has a violent argument with Jason, and finally shoots and kills him. David returns to Philadelphia, where every night his grandfather projects a home movie of him and his brother when they were still young building a sand castle on the beach.
