It is night. It is raining. A young woman with long blonde hair, whose car has broken down, asks for help. Needless to say, she meets such strange characters in an isolated mansion. This is the take off point for a series of scene reversals, gags, paradoxical situations, and "classic" quotations. The dominant figure is that of an odd policeman sometimes Lieutenant Colombo, sometimes Sherlock Holmes, sometimes Inspector Clouseau, sometimes Poirot passing through Twin Peaks. The continuous changing of identities reveals the grotesque inspiration with concessions to the surreal which marks the whole film.
