At a time in the very near future the broadcasts of the only television of the merged networks show the authoritarian face of the new regime. Scenes from real life appear instead of commercials. We can sense the presence of a network of new derelicts - unemployed leftist intellectuals - who try to organize themselves to survive and create a resistance movement in clandestine newspapers and alternative farms. Some of them want to flee to Albania, the country of virtual communism. The cynical announcer - the only thread running through the entire Tv program - may have been recruited from the ranks of the resistance, but ... maybe we are only dealing with a staged scene...

Silvana Silvestri
Silvana Silvestri is a film critic who has worked for "Il Manifesto" since its founding. She was one of the founders and organizers of the Roman film club, "Politecnico". For four years she directed the Festival-Cinema and the South of Europe which dealt with the countries of the Mediterranean basin. She published a book of interviews with Eastern European directors - Cecoslovacchia Polonia Ungheria, immagini di una cinematografia. Working both as programmer and director for the Department of Schools and Education.

Ariel F. Dumont
Ariel F. Dumont works as a free-lance journalist in Rome and contributes to "Il Manifesto", "Lettera 22" (press agency) and other periodicals specializing in film. She is the Rome correspondent for "L'humanité" as well as special correspondent from Sarajevo for "L'humanité" and "Radio Città Futura". She organized several film series in connection with the International Meeting for Peace Among Peoples in Rome. She took part in the creation of the film club, "Il cinematografo", and directed a documentary on intellectual resistance in Sarajevo entitled Maybe Airlines Sarajevo, shot in November, 1993.
