The attitude-and-weep germ - the condition of foreseeing events with an afflicted attitude - has taken over the inhabitants on a mysterious earthly base in an unexpIainable way. Two characters who we may define as the "ascetics" interact with the great tearful tribe. Without knowing it, they drag behind a young woman. The weeping ends up forming an actual liquid space, and "laughing man" leaps out from this space. This being begins to sow the seeds of democratic optimism and proposes himself as the alternative. The theoretician of the melancholy and the man of the plastic smile go up against each other in a frenetic electoral clash which leads the optimist to take power It is at this point that the two ascetics go into action. After they congratulate the victor, they lead him, in a very natural way, to an electric chair to execute him. After they confront the raging woman, rape her, and finish her off by clubbing her to death. The great desolate mass arise to take on the role of guilty victims and are suppressed with a nerve gas. The two ascetics - partisans of a democratic "use-and-throw-away optimism" - leave the dead behind them to keep on predicting a two-bit, petty, and simplistic trust.
