SINDIELY
by Paulin Soumanou Vieyra
Country: Senegal
Year: 1964
Duration: 11'
Marriages arranged by the family are no longer accepted by the new generations. In the tones of a pantomime in dance from traditional comedy theatre, the film tells the story of a father greedy for money who wants to marry off his daughter, Sindiely, by force. The old and wealthy suitor and the young man in love with Sindiely come to blows in a sort of mimed dance. The father will be forced to retrace his steps.
