After graduation, Mohammad finds a good job, but he is fired after negligently committing a small error. He ends up becoming an errand boy in a warehouse, and his new employer tries to steal his wife, Fatma. When Mohammad gets his old job back, he also wins back the love of his wife.

"With just a few exceptions, Egyptian cinema prior to Kamal Salim proposed situations that were far from Egyptian social reality. Al azima was the first realistic film, with characters taken from everyday life. The film faithfully represents life in El Hara, the heart of ancient Cairo" (Mohammad Al Sayyid Shusha, in the preface to the book The Screenplay of "Al azima", 1975).
