by Niazi Mustafa
Country: Egypt

Duration: 80'

Fat-hi, a police officer, moves to Cairo from the country along with his wife Madiha and their two children. In the city, Madiha makes friends with Faiqa, a divorced woman with a son. One evening Fat-hi and his men raid the house of Madame Renò, who is having a party, and finds Madiha and Faiqa. The policeman repudiates his wife, but Faiqa confesses to Fat-hi that she convinced Madiha to go to the party. Fat-hi forgives Madiha and the two decide to return to their village.

"Dahaya al madaniyya is the only film produced by Amina Rizq, one of the most famous actresses of Egyptian and Arab theater and cinema. Rizq, who debuted in 1923, still performs. As part of a policy of film restoration, the Cultural Development Fund financed the restoration of this film in the 1990's" (Samir Farid).
