In a grotto there is a woman's face covered with flames. Many years ago, she narrates, she got lost in an impenetrable forest with her boyfriend. Here some men slaughtered, dismembered, and ate her boyfriend under her very eyes. To stay alive, the girl summoned all the desperation and violence she had inside and transformed herself into a killer too. However, one of the men got the better of her and carried her away to some far corner of the world. Time passed and the girl became a woman and the mother of very many little bloodthirsty beasts. In the end, we discover her face through the flames. In her eyes there are years of horror.

"Wolves originated as an exercise in style inspired by Tsui Hark's We Are Going to Eat You, but it gradually took on the characteristics of a very personal work. It is a film about the flesh, about stone, and about the breath of nature. Yet, above all it is a 'novel of de-formation'. Here we tell of the loss of innocence, the passage from the youthful dreams of life to real life, made up of conquest, sexual avidity, and greed. More than a horror film (a genre I do not like), this film for me is a black tale about the extraordinary capacity that human beings have for accepting horror, for living with it, and, in the end, for generating it" (Fabio Segatori).
