An ancient, rural province in India, which is ruled by a lord who guarantees democracy to his faithful subjects. One day, the lord, as a sign of gratitude, gives his dog Apu to Koran, his former servant. Koran and his wife take care of the animal, which is venerated throughout the village. But the dog first bites a duck and then a boy. The rumor spreads that the lord gave up the dog because it has rabies. The political situation becomes complicated and the opposition takes advantage of the situation. There is no more peace in the province.

Murali Nair

Murali Nair was born and raised in Kerala, in southern India. Although he has a degree in geology, he decided at a young age to work in cinema and got his start in Bombay. After having directed numerous short films, he achieved success with his first full-length film, Marana Simhasanam, which won the Golden Camera at the festival in Cannes in 1999 and was also presented at the Torino Film Festival. Today, he lives and works in London, where he produces TV documentaries.
