A video montage featuring well-known and unknown clips of Francesco Tirone, the actor featured in so many of Ciprì and Moresco's works, who died last summer. Along with clips from Cinico Tv, the television program on Raitre which made "Gimondi" (as Tirone was known in Palermo) famous throughout Italy, the film previews clips from Tirone's long film autobiography, which will soon become a real film dedicated to "our greatest champion".
"Tirone's strength. Certainly. But not just that. The assertiveness of Paviglianiti, his monumental/monstrous physicality, which is overturned in a corporeal shadow of absolute positivity and divine ambiguity, and makes room for another world, a utopia that is even more savagely pacifist, beyond corporeal enjoyment and consummation. In the pantheon/nativity of Ciprì and Maresco's cynical TV, the powerful, sculptures that are already crumbling, the bodies/expressions of Marcello and Paviglianiti are balanced by the slow, inexhaustible dynamism, the tender sarcasm of Tirone the cyclist. If Filangieri, the third great "lost cynic" (but not dead, we hope, "I hope"?), adds expressions and voice to one sweet, obstinate rejection that defies every "pietas" and to this day remains the one true black hole in that type of cinema, Tirone is the obsessive, dialectic and logical hope which can and must be refuted, denied, and corrected off-screen. And with a small, sinister smile (much scarier than Giordano's terrible, repetitive, embarrassed elasticity), before or after taking off like a motorbike (tironpower) confirming the immobility of space and being, or after having gotten on or off the bike, or bike in hand like Stan Laurel's indicating hand in the labyrinth, he declares: siamo davvero pietosi (we're really pitiful!)" (Enrico Ghezzi).

Daniele Ciprì
Daniele Cipri (Palermo, 1962) and Franco Maresco (Palermo, 1958) start working together in 1986, putting together "micromontages" using fragments from films and other short video works. Their Cinico TV shorts were aired on Enrico Ghezzi's Fuori Orario in 1990. These were followed by stints for Blob and Avanzi. Their first feature-length film, Lo zio di Brooklyn (1995) depicts the desolate urban sprawl of Palermo. Since then they made two more feature-lenght films: Totò che visse due volte (1998) and Il ritorno di Cagliostro (2003). They debuted in theatre in 2002 with Palermo può attendere for the Biennale di Venezia. In 2004 they presented in Venice their Come inguaiammo il cinema italiano - La vera storia di Franco e Ciccio.
