In early May, 2001, work began on the building of a sign reading "Hollywood" in a Palermo garbage dump. This was an event connected with the Venice Biennial of the Arts performed by the contemporary artist Maurizio Cattelan. It was as if the letters themselves had the power to evoke cinematic imagination. The workers who are constructing the gigantic structure became actors.

"I need two billion lire to make a film" (Monica Castiglioni).
