by James Marsh
Country: UK, Ireland
Year: 2012

Collette comes from a family of Belfast terrorists with ties to the IRA. When she is arrested in London after a failed attack, she finds herself at a crossroads: spend the next twenty-five years in prison or become a mole for the British secret services? It’s not just her freedom at stake, she also risks losing her son. She decides to become a collaborator, returns to Belfast and starts to spy on her family. Caught between shame because she feels like a traitor and the deep moral reserves that torment her, Collette can only count on Mac, the intelligence agent who arrested her. But how can she survive in a world in which there is no longer any distinction between good and evil and intrigue is the name of the game?

Declaration

film director

“When I received Tom Bradby’s script, I began reading with a heavy heart [...]. But Tom found an interesting psychological premise that drives his story – what would it be like to betray your own family and spy on them every day? That’s what got me hooked on it, along with all the cynicism and treachery within the story.”
