SUN DON'T SHINE

SUN DON'T SHINE
by Amy Seimetz
Country: USA
Year: 2012
Duration: 82'

A young couple is driving along the roads of Florida. The savage and oppressive landscape, made of swamps and forests, alternates with a suburban panorama of identical houses. But where are Crystal and Leo going? Where are they coming from? What is making them drive for endless miles? As the days pass and frequent quarrels alternate with a few begrudged moments of tenderness, the tension grows and shadows and disturbing glimpses of Crystal’s past emerge. It increasingly appears as though they are trying to run away from themselves – where will it all lead?

Declaration

film director

“The film is inspired by a reoccurring nightmare that I’ve been having since I was eight. It started coming back more frequently right before I made Sun Don’t Shine. This past year was particularly trying and traumatic so I felt particularly compelled to make the film.”
