DUE BATTITI

DUE BATTITI
by Marino Guarnieri
Country: Italy
Year: 2023
Duration: 18'

Matilde lives in downtown Naples and recounts her daily coexistence with the city through her paintings. After her love story comes to an end, she loses her inspiration but remains in contact with it through recurring surreal dreams, in which fantasy and reality come together in a colorful world. All of Matilde's acquaintances seem to dance in a vortex of the present, the past, and moments she has never experienced. And just when she begins to suspect that those dreams might not belong to her, Matilde discovers she is pregnant and begins to dialog with the new life she carries within. Awareness and the unknown blend inside her, and she finally begins to depict her interior world once again on the canvas...

Declaration

film director

“Due battiti depicts the exact moment when a person stops being only a “child” and begins to realize they have become a “parent;” it takes that very delicate moment and expands it, transforming it into a story of personal growth. The concept of artistic creation mixes with the concept of biological creation because the ability to give life to something that has its own identity, its own personality, is a quality that belongs to each one of us. Creating a work and generating a new life have a lot in common: they come from within us and become something that is able to go beyond what we are, in space and in time. I have always been fascinated by this parallelism.”
