Following last year’s homage to Marlon Brando, the Torino Film Festival
proudly dedicates its 43rd edition’s retrospective and official poster
to the legendary Paul Newman.
From November 21 to 29, 2025, the 43rd Torino Film Festival will celebrate the centenary of Paul Newman’s birth with a curated retrospective and official poster in his honour.
Widely regarded as one of the most iconic and admired actors in the history of cinema, Newman will be commemorated through a selection of 24 titles that illuminate the trajectory of his remarkable career – from early performances in the 1950s, to international acclaim, and his later, introspective works. With his magnetic presence, expressive depth, and an unforgettable gaze capable of conveying profound emotion, Newman shaped some of the most enduring characters in film history.
The photograph featured on the official poster was taken in 1981 during the filming of Absence of Malice, directed by Sydney Pollack.

Giulio Base, Director of the Torino Film Festival, remarked: “In continuing the renewed artistic direction of TFF, following last edition’s tribute to Marlon Brando, it felt both natural and meaningful to now celebrate Paul Newman – whose centenary we also mark this year. Two exceptional artists, iconic and charismatic, bound by talent and conviction. Friends and rivals, they occupied the screen and the public imagination, united by their dedication to human rights and the fight against racial inequality. With this edition, the spotlight turns fully to Newman: to his riveting performances, and to those piercing, contemplative eyes that still speak to us – as powerfully as they do from this year’s poster.”
The Torino Film Festival is presented by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema of Turin and supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture – Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual, the Piedmont Region, the City of Turin, the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, and CRT Foundation.
