Laura Chiatti will take center stage as host of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 43rd Torino Film Festival, running November 21- 29, 2025.
An actress of rare grace and unmistakable talent, Chiatti will guide audiences through two evenings that promise to be as emotionally resonant as they are cinematically rich, bringing her luminous presence to Torino’s Teatro Regio alongside Festival Director Giulio Base. Known for her ability to move effortlessly between auteur cinema and popular comedy, her presence marks a symbolic beginning and end to an edition that promises to be rich in emotion, cinematic revelations, and international stars.
This year’s edition is already shaping up to be a landmark event, with a retrospective dedicated to Paul Newman, whose image graces the official poster. The full program of the 43rd edition will be presented at the press conference in Rome on November 7.
With a career shaped by collaborations with masters such as Paolo Sorrentino, Pupi Avati, Roberto Faenza, Sofia Coppola, Marco Tullio Giordana, and Giuseppe Tornatore, Laura Chiatti has portrayed roles of profound dramatic intensity. At the same time, her work with directors like Fausto Brizzi, Carlo Vanzina, and Luca Lucini has showcased her flair for popular comedy and her versatility and magnetic screen presence. A balance of allure and artistry, beauty and poise, she’s become a luminous constant in Italy’s audiovisual landscape.
Giulio Base, Director of Torino Film Festival, said: “I met Laura quite some time ago, when we acted together. Later, I invited her to join one of my projects, so I could have the privilege of directing her. It took no time at all to realize she was a true standout. When I saw her radiant performance in Paolo Sorrentino’s The Family Friend at Cannes, two years later, I knew she had found her rightful place in cinema. I’ve followed her path ever since, with deep respect and affection. Having her back at the Torino Film Festival is a true delight. Some reunions happen when they’re meant to – bringing stories full circle, only to begin again with a renewed glow.”
The Torino Film Festival is promoted by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema of Turin and is held with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture – Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual, the Piedmont Region, Turin Municipality, Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, and CRT Foundation.
