The story of The Wall is narrated only by Pink Floyd’s music, pictures and real effects.
There is no dialogue supporting the narration.
It’s the story of Pink, a rock star, who isolated himself in an hotel room, somewhere in Los Angeles. Too many shows, too much hashish, too many rounds of applause, a wasted man. On the television screen, scenes from a war film are passing by. As we walk down Pink’s painful memory lane (each memory is a brick of the wall he created around his feelings), the borders between time and space, reality and nightmare become blurred. He thinks of himself now as a dictator with no heart. He can’t do anything but exercise his power on a submissive audience. He has nothing left apart from the climax given him by the hateful excesses of his world and the world around him. He slowly retires from reality only to drown deeper and deeper in this nightmare. While witnesses from his past, the ones who contributed to the construction of the wall, appear to accuse him, he becomes aware of himself.
