A story of encounters and disencounters in which the irruption of a violent episode forces all characters in the film to confront their past and their most inner feelings. The central figure, Joaquin, lives with his wife, Susana, and a teenager son, Ernesto, at "La Victoria", a small inn by a road in northern desertic Mexico. He is a middle aged man, lonesome and grudgefull, with a bitter past as a unionist miner. The monotonous life of the small family continues to flow smoothly until three runaways, whose car has broken nearly, show up at the inn. As one of the fugitives is wounded and there is not a vehicle in good shape around, the runaways decide to stay "in the middle of nowhere", enduring the heat of the evergrowing desert, and thus taking as hostages the small family. The tension that brakes out at the inn gives way to the characters most inner feelings and allows the nature of their relationships to forcefully come to fight.

Hugo Rodriguez
Graduated from the General Course of Cinematographic Studies at the Film Training Center (CCC) in 1989. Since 1984 he has participated in numerous animated, documentary and fiction film production as cinematographer, editor, assistant director, producer and director. Among them, it is relevant to mention his work as assistant director and editor in the TV series Tony Tijuana (José Luis Garcia Agraz, 1989) and in the film La mujer de Benjamin (Carlos Carrera, 1990), and as executive producer in Bandidos (Luis Estrada, 1990).
