TORPORE INTERNAZIONALE
by Antonio Rezza
In a house sunken in mystery, cases of temporary asphyxia occur every night. There is little clear about these cases, except that they daze the houses luckless dwellers. They inhibit their actions and their personalities. A doctor of undoubted fame - with the help of the famous Eastern European chemist, Girarda - seeks to discover an explanation of this perennial torpor that afflicts the members of that household. Pretty soon the doctor, too, begins to be left a victim of the interruptions in breathing that multiply without any apparent motive. The doctor gets on top of the by-now dangerous situation by isolating night-time breathing from daytime breathing. However the night before the definitive diagnosis, the cases of asphyxia change from temporary to permanent. This brings an end to the search for truth.
