Tina is twenty years old. She has never met her father. She lives with her mother, Nadine, a solitary woman who can maintain herself through the generosity of old friends. Tina works in the shipping department of a supermarket and is about to marry Fred, a polite but confused young man of the same age. When her mother dies, all these fragile points of orientation break into pieces. Despite an agreement that forbade her to do so, she sets out to meet the person who ignored her totally, his father. But it is not the father she runs up against first. It is Lisa, her stepsister. They have a week to observe each other, lie to each other, and seek each other out before the father returns. Each of them faces up to the mystery of the other.

Olivier Assayas
Olivier Assayas (Paris, 1955) was member of the editorial board of «Cahiers du Cinéma» from 1980 to 1985. In 1983 his short film, Laissé inachevé à Tokyo won the Perspectives award at Cannes. He later worked as a screenwriter for Laurent Perrin (Passage secret) and André Téchiné (Rendez-vous, Le Lieu du crime). Along with Stig Björkman, he published Conversations avec Ingmar Bergman.
