VESNOJ

Vesnoj is a poetic documentary built upon a basis of the aesthetic principles of that that Michail Kaufman himself worked out with his brother, Dziga Vertov. It was made in the same year as was Man With a Movie Camera, for which Kaufman was the cameraman. The film develops through successive themes. There is the birth of a season in all its aspects: melted snow and ice, water in the streets, mud, the breaking of ice, floods, youth, work in construction, propaganda against the orthodox church, alcohol abuse.

CONSERVAZIONE E RESTAURO / CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION

Il film è conservato presso il Nederlands Filmmuseum. Il Nederlands conservava un positivo nitrato di 1400 m e un frammento di 200 m. A partire da questo materiale è stato stampato un negativo e da esso una copia positiva.
