There are at least 60,000 homeless Italian citizens in our country. There are 2,000 in Milan. Germano, Maurizio, Angelo, Nino, and Aurelia are ordinary looking homeless people. They do not stink. They do not wear trashy clothes. They do not drag themselves bewilderedly down sidewalks nor do they rummage desperately through garbage and trash bins. They cannot be characterized by any of the clichés that usually describe so-called derelicts. They walk around the streets and squares of an indifferent city. They coolly talk about their own loneliness and have nothing in them that begs for anything from the people that may observe them. They are there. That's all. They are among us. This documentary reveals them with respect and dignity and lets us infer through the lines that the worst type of alienation is that of the heart.
