Mohsen Makhmalbaf is a filmmaker who lived in poverty in his childhood, joined urban guerillas as an adolescent and spent four years behind bars, was a typical aggressive figure in the post-revolution years, and later became a gentle artist. Makhmalbaf, who has completed his 14th feature film and shot 15th recently, speaks in this documentary about his life, childhood, political activities, disarmament of a policeman which caused him being captured, cultural activities after release, and his style and beliefs on art, cinema, violence, kindness, God, religion and death.

Houshang Golmakani

Born in Gorgan (Iran) in April 1954, Houshang Golmakani graduated in cinema from College of Dramatic Arts in Tehran. Beginning of his career as a journalist and film critic was in 1972. He is chief editor of "Film Monthly", the oldest and most influential Iranian film magazine. He translated into Farsi the screenplays of Paris, Texas, Luci del varietà, Lo sceicco bianco, La strada, La notte. He wrote The Gentleman Actor, a book on prominent Iranian actor Ezatollah Entezami. Gong-e Khab-dideh. Zendegi, Asar va Andishehaye Mohsen Makhmalbaf is his first film.
