Philippe is a painter. He leads what he calls a "bourgeois" life with his wife and their two children. One day, he discovers that his wife has a lover. They separate. He meets a young woman but he tells his father he feels guilty about having "abandoned" his children. This guilt which prevents him from painting drives him to discover the reason for his own parents' separation when he was a child.

Philippe Garrel
Philippe Garrel was born in Boulogne-Billancourt in 1948. He made his first short, Les enfants désaccordés, in 1964 at the age of 16 and quickly stood out for his radical approach to the cinema.
