First episode. A famous poet and film director is travelling in a second class car. Getting off at Syracuse, he visits a working-class neighborhood, where he studies at lenght the young boys playing ball. Second episode. In his house in Rome, the poet receives Valerio, a handsome young man who, he says, would like to write his thesis about him. Third episode. The poet strolls around the dark streets of night-time Rome. He meets a young man, invites him to eat with him and suggests he act in one of his films.

Aurelio Grimaldi

Aurelio Grimaldi (Modica, Ragusa; 1957) has published various novels since 1987. Marco Risi's screenplay for Meri per sempre is based on one these novels. Grimaldi's first work directly for the cinema was his screenplay for Ragazzi fuori (directed, again, by Marco Risi). He made his directing debut the next year with his La discesa di Aclà a Floristella, which competed in the 1992 Venice Film Festival and was followed by La ribelle, Le buttane, and Nerolio.
