Two beautiful women dance to the sound of a quadrille in the arms of a gallant knight in the shadows of large trees. On a road covered with snow of a blinding whiteness, there is a carriage drawn by a little horse that is walking at a sad pace, half dead with fatigue. A man with greying hair is lying helpless in the carriage. The woman who owns the villa on the outskirts of a city is disgusted when she recognizes the stranger who has arrived unexpectedly. He was the person who had represented Love to her at other times before she had bowed down under the eternal yoke of a calm and unhappy matrimony. At dawn in springtime a woman implores her knight to kill herself together with her, except that she backs off from her plan when the light gets more intense. How is it possible to leave the earth with such a beautiful sun? The little flower girl, the madam of a bordello, the goldsmith's beautiful wife, the young women with hearts swelling with sighs who write love letters at midnight, the women who trick their husbands all have loved Szindbad.

"Zoltan Huszarik's film is a masterly monument to Gyula Krudy from the heart of Szindbdd. 1f I see a rose, should I pluck il only to study its structure? Its roundness is enough for me. If its scent is infinite. That is enough for me. This film is one of those flowers. Yet, we should remember Majmunka's direction because this is where the brain of this filmrose apparently is the memory of the names of the women. They spread out from here: Fanny, Florentin, Franciska, and the other qualities of sounds. These are the petals around the bud of the flower. These women bless this film, these women with and without names who have given body and soul to the movie camera! Like an orphan and with human integrity, Zoltan Latinovits has worked sweetly, sombrely, and resolutely. He is the master captain on Szindbad's ship." (Laszlo Nagy, "Nagyvilag", 12/1971)
