Mai Qiang is a thirtyyearold railroad crossing guard at a small provincial station. He leads a monotonous and lonely life. Every night he has a recurrent dream in which a woman appears. The woman is Chen Qing, a poor and unlucky young woman with a young son, who has become a widow. One day Mai meets her and tries to make love with her. Chen breaks out in tears and Lao Mo, the director of the hotel where the woman works, reports Mai to the police, accusing him of rape. Mai is arrested but inspector Wu Gang's investigations bring the truth to light.

Zhang Ming
Zhang Ming (Sichnan province, 1963) studied at the Department of Art at the University of Southwest China (1988-82). He studied directing at the Beijing Film Academy in 1988. After graduating in 1991, he worked in television and as an instructor at BFA. Wushan yunyu is his first feature film for the cinema.
