This documentary provides a lucid and even-handed account of Oliver North's 1994 compaign for the U.S. Senate. In 1994 Lieutenant Colonel North re-emerged following the Iran/Contra scandal challenges Democratic Charles Robb in Virginia. The film presents revealing close-up portraits of both candidates, and offers a rare glimpse into the lives of two important people behind the scenes: "Washington Post" reporter Don Baker and North strategist Mark Goodin.

R. J. Cutler received his B.A. degree from Harvard in 1984. He currently lives in New York.
Born in Washington in 1962, David Van Taylor is the son of a lawyer and a judge. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University in Sociology and Afro-American Studies. Prior to his career in film, he worked as a science teacher in the New York public schools.
