The housekeeper Pacita asks her fiancé to kill a certain Bobby. The owners of the house, Dolores and her jealous husband Cayetano, hear shots. In reality Cantiflas has killed a dog named Bobby, the same name as the gangster who is trying lo blackmail Dolores. Pacita hides Bobby's body and Cantiflas, but the latter, who has hidden in the pantry, is discovered. Dolores pretends that he is her brother Leonardo, a wanted person. Pacita demands that Cantiflas legalizes their union, but the wedding is interrupted when the police burst in looking for Leonardo who has allegedly killed Bobby. During the trial Cantiflas confesses that it was he who killed Bobby, still believing that they are talking about the dog. He even refuses the help of his counsel for the defence. Cantiflas is condemned to death, but is saved at the last minute by the appearance of the real Leonardo who, in extremis, confesses to his crime.
