But life of the Russian province does not suite him anymore and he desires to move to St. Petersburg where his elder brother recently started to prosper. Danila finds his brother. But his brother appears to be a professional killer.

Alexej Balabanov

Alexej Balabanov (Sverdlovsk, Urals, 1959) graduated from the Foreign Languages college in Gorky. After two years in the Soviet Air Force he worked as a first assistant director in documentaries on Sverdlovsk film studio for a few years. Then he did a scriptwriting and directing course in Moscow that allowed him to make two documentaries. In 1990 he moved to St. Petersburg where directed his first feature film.
