Gloria, sickly, maniacal and lame, complains because her husband Pablo teases her about her beliefs. Gloria's husband wants to leave her but she does not want to leave him. Before making love he demands that she washes herself with alcohol and does not want to have children for fear of some hereditary defect. In his laboratory, where he keeps a live falcon, Pablo manipulatcs a lame skeleton as if it were Gloria, saying that his wife has gone to Guadalajara lo visit an aunt. Following this strange happening, Gloria's friends bring an accusation against him. However, due to a lack of evidence, he is absolved. At confession, Pablo tells the priest, who belongs to the same religious congregation as Gloria, a terrible secret: he killed his wife with strychnine, burnt her skeleton and replaced it with various bones. Gloria's friends, all guilty, for different reasons, of having denigrated her, repent, but in the end they die poisoned by the dead woman's favourite drink.
