Carlo is a university student and apprentice plumber. He is the nephew of a recently deceased famous poet. Carlo has been writing poetry for quite a while. His aunt (the poet's widow) would like to read them. However, only Sofia, Carlo's girlfriend, gets to know the poetry. When a publishing house signals that it is interested in publishing his poems, the aunt notices that one of these was written by her late husband. After Carlo argues heatedly with his aunt and his father, his family decides not to oppose the publication of the poetry. However, Carlo's sister, Stefania, is going to be the one who involuntarily discovers the real writer of the poetry as her brother looks on dumbstruck.
