Antonio, a magnate in the chemicals industry buys his wife Elena the statue of a nude kneeling woman for their wedding anniversary. The model who posed for the statue, Raquel, had been his mistress. He would like to go back to her but Raquel demands that he leave his sick wife. After their anniversary, Elena dies. Raquel goes to Panama to act in a cabaret. Antonio follows her. He drinks a lot and, in a jealous fit, tries to kill her. A telegram for the magnate shows Raquel that it was he who killed his wife. Raquel bursts into a meeting chaired by her lover and announces their wedding, thus forcing him to marry her. But Nacho, who has always desired Raquel, blackmails her. Finally, Antonio gives in to his passion for Raquel. They go to New York but he is arrested at the airport following a denouncement by Nacho. The autopsy shows that Elena died of natural causes. Raquel runs to Antonio's cell to give him the good news, but in the meantime he has poisoned himself and dies in her arms.
