The prehistory and the protohistory of Sicily is recounted through a chronological journey which focuses on the Neolithic era, the time when agrarian and pastoral civilization began there (5500 B.C.). In the 1950's Vittorio De Seta's documentaries told the story of the end of this civilization there. With the advent of contemporary society, the "mediadigicontroll(ed)" and "(a)phone / lunati / m(arti) / ri / civili / electroni / siliconed" world, these seven thousand years of civilization disappear in an instant as well as the 500,000 that went before them. The films is seeking an intimate assimilation of places by travelling through Siracusa, Pantalica, Caltagirone, Dessueri, Ustica, Palermo, Pantelleria, and Stretto Partanna. These are places that can become settings, stage sets in which we can observe (unconsciously) the distant past once again.

Salvo Cuccia
Salvo Cuccia (Palermo, Italy, 1951) conducts research in video art, fiction, and new forms of documentaries. He has made approximately one hundred works (videos, shorts, documentaries, installations, performances). In 2005, Martin Scorsese presented his documentary Détour De Seta at the Tribeca Festival. He is the creator and artistic director of the series ALBASUITE - 9 Docs about Arbëreshë culture. In 2013, his documentary Summer 82 When Zappa Came to Sicily was presented out of competition at the 70th Venice Film Festival. In 2015, he made his first fiction feature film, Lo scambio.
