Urged by Miro, whose son has died due to the absolute poverty in which the family finds itself, a group of fishermen rise up against a profiteer who buys fish from them at very low prices. The merchant recruits a local demagogue (nominated as a deputy to parliament) to cause a rift between the fishermen. The initiative works and the poor people begin to disagree with each other. The demagogue calls the police to repress the uprising of the workers and, takes advantage of the confusion to kill Miro by shooting him. In spite of everything, his sacrifice manages to unite the fishermen who return to the attack. They organize a procession of boats to bring Miro's body to the city and all of them take part in a large protest march.
