Michael Almereyda

Michael Almereyda (Overland Park, Kansas, USA, 1959) after a stint as a screenwriter, debuted in directing in 1987 with the short A Hero of Our Time. He then realized Twister and in 1992 made Another Girl Another Planet, which won the Golden Gate Award at the International Film Festival of San Francisco. In 1995 he and Amy Hobby co-directed At Sundance. The Rocking Horse Winner, which was presented in Torino in 1997, won the Award for Best Short Film at the Hamptons International Film Festival that same year. In 2000 he directed Hamlet, with Sam Shepard, a fundamental encounter even for This So-Called Disaster (2003). In 2002, Happy Here and Now won the Jury Prize at the South by Southwest Film Festival.
