COMPAGNI DI UN VIAGGIO

The film goes over the actual time span of the path that children, or "those not fit for work" took from their sealed railroad cars to the cremation furnaces of Birkenau concentration camp right after their arrival there.


LEARNING PATHWAY
The film was shot during a trip made in March, 1999, as part of "Project Memory", an initiative promoted by the secondary schools and the city government of Moncalieri. This film does not aim to be a documentary, but rather a short film that would be able to photograph the emotions that the young people went through during their visit. The names of the children were looked up in Liliana Picciotto Fargion's Book of Memory. These names accompany the viewers along the pathway towards their tragic end in order to create a spiritual union between the people watching these images and those that had lived through these scenes during the dark years of Nazi-Fascism.
