On November 17, 1944, one of the most ferocious massacres committed by the Nazis in Piedmont took place in Cudine, a borough of Corio. The victims were 27 ex-national policemen who had gone over to join the Garibaldi partisan band as well as 10 civilians. Someone sectretly reported their location. They were surprised, captured, and shot. Even the school in Cudine was burnt down. A new school was built in the memory of these martyrs with the contribution of the partisans in the area.
"In our case, the film document, in its roughness and brevity, can be also taken as something that proves that an event can be transformed when it retold by word of mouth and when it entrusts its historical image to the words of a story. The experiences of indivuduals are gestures padded with memories that come into play through stories, and these stories are populated with the myths of childhood and filtered through the charm of legends. Let the drawings of children be enough for this, those drawings that have interpreted the slaughter.
