At the end of the XXI century, the spaceship Dark Star is searching for planets and stars to destroy. Captain Powell has been hibernated and command of the spaceship has passed to Lt. Doolittle. The other members of the crew are Boiler, Pinback and Talby. During the voyage, a strange alien gets out of the astronauts' control, but Pinback manages to neutralize him. By mistake, the ship's computer has started the countdown of a dangerous bomb. Doolittle is able to postpone the explosion, but is unable to defuse the bomb completely. The men find themselves flung out into space.
Biography
film director

John Carpenter
(Carthage, New York, 1948) debuted in 1974 with the science fiction film Dark Star and next made three low budget films, Assault on Precint 13 (1976), Halloween (1978) and The Fog (1980), which made him one of the best-known directors of American New Horror. In 1981 he directed Escape from New York and the following year The Thing continuing his study of horror movies and science fiction. He confirms his status among the genre’s best with subsequent works such as Vampires (1987), In the Mouth of Madness (1994), and Ghosts of Mars (2001).
