"The documentary has developed using the way of looking at things that Ghirri himself had. This is what Ghirri himself suggested and taught to us in his photographs - to develop a vision of the environment that is an emotional way of looking at things. Friends and fellow workers were invited to come to certain chosen places in order to talk about the emotions that Ghirri put across to us. It is through this series of narratives, sometimes made with off-screen voices, that some of the places are presented that Ghirri loved and photographed - Fontanellato in the province of Parma, Gualtieri and Luzzara in the province of Reggio Emilia and, above all, the River Po" (Gianni Celati).

Gianni Celati
Gianni Celati (Sondrio, 1937) is a writer who has been living abroad for many years. He debuted as a novelist with the short novel entitled Comiche, which was introduced to the public by Italo Calvino. He has published story collections and essays. He is a translator of French and English authors. In 1991 he directed the documentary, Strada provinciale delle anime.
