Three young film directors, Eugenio, Massimo and Fabio decide to make a film based on neorealism. Their film, The Bricklayer, focuses on housing problems. The critics are so enthralled by the film that they suggest presenting it at the Quattro Cantoni festival in Switzerland. After winning an award, the three directors, galvanized into action by their success abroadm return to Italy where their film is distributed. But because the film comes out in high summer is a total box office failure. The three friends are so disappointed that they decide to follow different and separate careers. But, one day, once again their paths cross.

Eugenio Cappuccio

Eugenio Cappuccio (Latina, 1961) studied screenwriting at the Experimental Film Center in Rome and directing at Focus On in Los Angeles. He worked as assistant director for Federico Fellini's Ginger e Fred. He wrote screenplays for and directed numerous commercials and music videos. At the Torino Film Festival his short film, Il caricatore received the special mention of the 1996 Holden jury and his La vita è una sola appeared in the 1999 European Perspectives section.

Massimo Gaudioso

Born in Naples in 1958, Massimo Gaudioso graduated with a degree in economy and business studies. He studied script writing with Ugo Pirro and production with Nikita Michalkov. He has directed commercials for Rai and Alitalia.

Fabio Nunziata

Born in Cosenza in 1965, Fabio Nunziata studied editing at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. He was responsible for the editing of numerous shorts by Sergio Sollima and two feature films by Pappi Corsicato Libera and I buchi neri.
