This very-short short film focuses on an analysis of the conditions of African cinema and its relationship with film production in the rest of the world. This fragment from Idrissa Ouédraogo's filmography contains an intense reflection on cinema that starts out from his own cinema. Ouédraogo films himself within a still frame in order to express his thoughts about cinema. This happens with the same complexity with which he constructs his sets and with the same immediacy and simplicity with which his films come to fruition. What he says in the interview puts the issues of production and funding into the foreground. This is done with few, necessary shots in black and white. There are his face, hands, eyes, and mouth. There are the words of the director. To create a continuity within his filmography, there are color inserts of the images and music of Ismaël Lô and Afrique, mon Afrique.

Idrissa Ouédraogo
Idrissa Ouédraogo was born in Banfora, Burkina Faso in 1954. He graduated from the African Film Studies Institute in Ouagadougou. He then worked in the governing board of the Film Production of Burkino Faso in 1981. He remained for a period in Kiev. In 1985 he graduated from IDHEC in Paris. He then received a degree in film studies at the University of Paris at the Sorbonne.
