A woman rides her motorbike down streets full of traffic and noise. Her name is Obi Kam, she is the mother of four children, and after being repudiated by her husband she is obliged to re-invent a life for herself and work in the goldmines. She will open up a restaurant with the money earned from finding a few gold pepitas. In stages, Ouédraogo tells the story of the difficult existence of a woman. But he does it with his usual light touch. The film, produced for television, once again combines the didactic side (teaching ways of resisting family repression and everyday social obligations) with the pleasure of telling a story, of pausing over the details, the noises, the sounds. Here, his complicity with the leading character is total. Obi talks to the movie camera, to the troupe and in flashbacks describes parts of her life (already expressed in synthesis in the excellent credits), the hard work (in the goldmine set, which will explode in Kini & Adams) and the necessary and liberating sensuality of dancing (at the open air party with the orchestra, the songs and the dances).
