Four doctors are in the middle of a complicated surgical operation. They are reconstructing the visual memory of a mysterious patient. Repeated flashbacks carry us back to the last edition of the Venice Film Festival. There are interviews, photo opportunities, the arrival of stars, etc. - i.e. the real life and the distorted visions of the film event that closed the millennium.

"Working fifteen hours a day at the Lido in an atmosphere that was often frenetic and stirring meant something for each one of us. It meant a bundle of feelings, an indigestion of the senses, an emotional overloading that never left us, not even when we were sleeping. Indeed, this was exactly the time when our everyday experiences were re-worked in our dreams and enriched with fantastic connotations that had little to do with the true reality of the festival but had been stimulated in some way by what was going on around the festival" (the directors).
