Franck, a student of economics in Paris, returns home to his parents for an apprenticeship at the company where his father has worked for thirty years. He is assigned to the "Human Resources" department. The young man tries to settle the dead-locked situation that has evolved between the company and the unions, which are negotiating a shorter work week. But the company is simply trying to fire part of their personnel, including the young man's father.

Laurent Cantet
Laurent Cantet debuted as a director with two short films which received numerous prizes at the festivals of Pantin and Belfort. In 1997, he directed an episode of the series 2000 Seen by… Ressources humaines is his first feature-length movie.
