A quiet story of love and friendship between a Japanese monk and his young novice. Their relationship, from their first meeting to their final, tragic separation, is set against the slow changing of the seasons.

"The Offering is born of the pain I have felt at the premature death of dear friends - people who have left this world when they had barely begun to live, before their full potential could completely express itself. Their departure from my life has also made me confront my own mortality" (Paul Lee).
