Gabriel is a young, aspiring, gay musician who writes musicals. He shares a miniscule flat with the heterosexually active Rich. As a result he often ends up sleeping in the hallway. Katherine is a struggling, but determined, Broadway actress and great whirlwind of a friend to the former, whose life and works she impetuously infiltrates. Perry, Katherine's friend, believes that only an earthquake will be able to alter the bland monotony of Gabriel's job. One night, Gabriel opts for a gay hang-out, where he meets Mark - a well-known go-go boy. Despite his interest in the latter, he nevertheless lacks the guts to give it a crack. Afterwards however, in the underground, Gabriel notices that Mark is in the same carriage and when the former gets out, Mark follows him. They then have to trail around looking for a place to spend the night together.
