Lisbon in the nineties. Two brothers and their sister, Maria. Maris is twenty years old but is unable to behave like the majority of people of her age. She almost never says what she thinks, nor asks for what she wants. She almost never tells the truth, although she never lies. She kills and does not say that she has killed. She suffers and does not say that she is suffering. She does not want to be alone, but does not seek company. She loves, not knowing who she loves. She was born in Lisbon and has never been and will never go to any other city. Maria always wants to be with her brothers, but that is not possible, for that is not how the world was organized. Maria wants to endure everything alone. In the end Maria makes a decision, brutal and definitive. It is not a happy story, but then sometimes neither is life.
