Four toubab ("white folks") attempt to tell the story of Africa and its cinema in an original way. At the thirtieth anniversary of FESPACO (The Pan-African Film and Television Festival), they have interviewed personalities in and outside of cinema, including Alpha Blondy, Idrissa Ouedraogo, Abdehrramane Sissako, Cheick Oumar Sissoko, and Danny Glover.

Andrea Bessone

Andrea Bessone (Turin, 1969) works with magazines and newspapers as a publicist. He is author of articles and investigative reports on Africa. For the last two years he has dedicated special attention to the audiovisual field. He collaborated on the screenplay for Agostino (16mm, 1997). He committed himself to a series of documentaries, the first of which is Verso il FESPACO (1999).

Gabriele Buti

Gabriele Buti (Florence, 1974) graduated from a scientific high school and then had various positions in advertising: grip, electrician, assistant camera person, and animation assistant. He contributed to several magazines as a film critic. In his third year at the DAMS at the University of Bologna, he won an Erasmus scholarship that brought him to Paris, where he has lived until now. He was hired as production assistant at Banfilm. In 1999 he formed a work group with Andrea Bessone and Alessandra Blotto, with whom he has since co-directed.
