AS LONG AS THE GRASS SHALL GROW AND THE RIVERS FLOW

AS LONG AS THE GRASS SHALL GROW AND THE RIVERS FLOW

Country: Italy
Year: 1999
Duration: 60'

This journey across the great plains hunting ground of North America in the territory of the Lakota people in search of what is left of their past pays witness to the hurt and forgetfulness of a still-open American wound. We see desolate, miserable Indian reservations next to the pleasant and well-ordered cities of the whites with attractions for tourists that have sprung up on the very Lakota land that was taken away from them by treaties mandated by the American government but never honored.

"I have always loved American Indians from what I read about them in history books for their sense of justice, generosity, culture, and courage as well as for the clarity of their spirituality despite unacceptable contradictions. Now I know that there is a people to whom I would entrust the fate of our planet - the native Americans" (Pit Formento).
